Jazz's First Ever Award!
Thanks so much to the gorgeous Sam, Sabrina & Simon for giving JazzyJ an award :o) She's thrilled, and is prancing around YOW-ing even more than normal this morning!
We are instructed to send this to 10 Blog Writers of outstanding style and ability - Jazz hasn't been in the blogosphere very long, and has noticed that a lot of her lovely new friends already deservedly have the award! But she would like to in turn pass it on to;
Bonnie Underfoot and Victor Tabbycat
Daisy the Curly Cat
Gypsy & Tasha
Riley & Tiki
Have a lovely weekend efurryone!

Vet Rant
It's been a week today since we lost Stanny, and I get home tonight to find a bill from the vet. £15 'exotic euthanasia'. Over the last 14 months I've spent close to £1,000 with that vet, and just...would you not think....maybe just once....they could forget it? Or at least...give me a little more time before firing a reminder of last Friday at me? I've had to go through the hassle of calling them up and paying over the phone, getting all teary again, all for the sake of a measly £15. I've always been a fan of my local vet since moving here, but over the last few weeks...I'm getting tired of them. When they anaesthetised Noggin to see if his lump was an abscess or a tumour they ended up charging me £89 - just for knocking him out, deciding it was an inoperable tumour and putting him to sleep. And that time I had to pay there and then. I'm about through with them I think.
Classifying rats as exotics is just ridiculous. They're, God love 'em, vermin. I adore them and wouldn't be without them, but there's nothing bloody exotic about them it's just a way to squeeze more cash out of you all the time.
Time to look around for a new vet I think.

Tribute to a Legendary Rat
Seems odd to mention rats on Jazz's blog, but just to let you know there probably won't be any updates for the rest of the week. My ancient, much loved rat Stan is very poorly, and there's nothing the vet can do. It's a tough time for us as he's a huge part of the family. We have him home with us for a couple more days to spoil him rotten, but on Friday the decision has to be made :( His brother went to the bridge 2 weeks ago, and I'm sure they miss each other something chronic.
Jazz doesn't mind Stanny posting a pic here, as he's a legend in his own right.
This was taken awhile ago, right now he has a tumour on his side which is now almost as big as he is, and growing faster by the day :( It first appeared around 3 months ago, but due to Stan's advanced age and breathing problems the vet wouldn't consider operating. It was instead decided to let him carry on for as long as he was comfortable.
The worst thing in the world about having pets is having to make this awful decision for them - as to what's best and when it's time. Rats, dogs, ferrets, cats...it doesn't matter what species...it hurts just as much no matter who it is.
*Update* - Stan went to the bridge on Friday evening. We miss him terribly :(

Harness help
Does anyone have any recommendations for cat harnesses? Right now Jazz is still tiny but I'd love for her to be able to go out in the garden. I'd imagine normal cat harnesses would be way too big - does this look like it might be any good? I'm clueless given that all my other cats have just gone in and out as they please. Jazzy can't go out until she's been spayed - breeder's wishes and of course it makes sense.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

7 random things about Jazz
Simon tagged Jazz for the "7 random things about me" meme :) Jazzy is a little busy chasing her tail right now, so I'll go ahead do this for her now, and she can correct me later if I get anything wrong!
1. Jasmine is the LOUDEST cat in the world - she'll hold a conversation with you until you get tired of it, and there's no volume control! The only thing louder than her "YOW!" is her "Purrrrrrrrrrr"
2. Jasmine's favourite toy is her green feather tickler. She'll play for hours. If you have to have a shower or get some work done or make some dinner she'll pick the tickler up and follow you around with it until you relent and play some more.
3. Jasmine won't be allowed outside until after she's been spayed, which means she'll be a house cat for another couple of months yet. She's still trying to figure out how it is that our other cat manages to get out and back home and yet she's under house arrest.
4. Jasmine will eat ANYTHING. Last night she even ate the leftover rat food when I was putting the boys to bed.
5. Jasmine's fancy schmancy meezer name is "Roopieroos Queen Dreamer"
6. During her first week with us Jasmine and our Big White ManCat did not get on. At all. Right now we're into week 2 and they're playing together like bestest mates.
7. Jasmine will 'fetch' any toy that you throw for her. For hours on end!
By the looks of it most blogosphere kitties have already done this meme, but if you haven't, and would like to, then Jazz tags YOU!

Warm as Toast
It's been hard being back at work and having to leave Jazz at 6.30am, but she's been good as gold and so far is getting on well with The Big White Monster cat. She loves to sleep on her bed on the radiator, but when we got in tonight there was no sign of her. Going into the kitchen I noticed that the boiler had cut out, so the radiators were stone cold. Ms Meezer was all tucked up in our bed ;)
As soon as the heating kicked back in she was back in her usual spot....

Playing with the big guy
Jazz and the big white monster (hubby's cat) are slowly starting to get along. I'm back to work next week, so am really hoping these two can be friends and keep each company during the day. Fingers crossed!
Oh, and most importatnly Jazz and I both want to say a big Thank You to all the lovely blogosphere cats for such a nice welcome, cheers! :) We're looking forward to getting to know you all.

Comfy
I just found Jasmine fast alseep in Stanny's well loved, heavily chewed, favourite bed (although I woke her up turning the camera on).
This wouldn't be quite so strange if it wasn't for the fact that Stanny is one of our pet rats. Jazz has spurned the 2 brand new cat beds downstairs in favour of Stanny's knackered old critter cup.
LOL. Funny creatures.
(for the curious, no Stanny wasn't in the bed at the time, the cats are only allowed in the rat's bedroom when they're sleeping in their cages)

Jasmine - aka Jazzy J
Jasmine has decided to join Blogger, as phlog isn't too reliable. She's a 14 week old lilac point Siamese, who's been with us for just a week. She's the first Siamese we've ever had, and would love to make some meezer (and non-meezer too of course) friends.
Jasmine is the first cat we've ever got from a breeder, rather than from a shelter, and it's lush to have a kitten in the house. Although I do feel guilty for not giving a shelter cat a home, I can't wait to watch her grow up into, no doubt, a spoilt rotten regal meezer. For once I have a cat who's plenty young enough to insure, which is a big weight off my mind.
Hopefully this blog will be a record of her life, and may it be a long & happy one!!
